Vitamin D in the News
We just read the results of a very large clinical study looking at the impact of Vitamin D and Omega-3 clinical trial and we wanted to share the news….
What is NAD+?
Since its discovery in 1906, research continues to show that NAD+ is critical for maintaining the health of our cells, producing energy, and protecting our DNA. It is involved in nearly every metabolic process in our bodies, and newer evidence indicates that it is important in cell-to-cell signaling and functions as a neurotransmitter in our autonomic nervous system (the part that controls things like blood pressure, goosebumps, and some of the “flight-or-fight” response).
Vitamin D
This is the first of an ongoing series of blog posts, answering questions we get about different supplements…..we start with Vitamin D.
Vitamin D is not actually a vitamin at all. Because it can be synthesized by most mammals in sufficient amounts, it is really considered a hormone! Vitamin D is a group of fat-soluble compounds that can be made from cholesterol in the skin through a chemical reaction that depends on sun exposure.

The New York Times is Writing About Ketamine
We were quite excited about an article published in the New York Times recently. The title of the November 5 article was “The Ketamine Cure.” Our integrative healthcare clinic has been safely working with ketamine since March 2020 and Dr. Stoner, our founding physician, has been working with it for over 20 years as an anesthesiologist. We were intrigued to see ketamine as a subject outside of medical journals and read the article with great interest.
Recognizing Seasonal Affective Disorder
Fall in the Colorado mountains. What a wonderful time of year. The Aspen trees are changing into the beautiful, brilliant gold that most people only get to experience in pictures and screen savers…For some this is a welcome change, signaling the transition from summer to winter. However, for others it can be a very difficult time of year.
Try Napping – A Quick and Easy Way to Recharge, Relax and De-Stress
Have you heard of a “coffee nap” or “nappuccino”? It’s a trend in napping where one drinks a cup of coffee or other caffeinated beverage and then immediately take a nap. The caffeine doesn’t kick in for about 30 minutes, allowing the perfect amount of time for a brief nap before it does. Proponents enjoy both the restorative effects of a powernap AND an alertness boost from the caffeine upon waking.
Staying Safe and Supporting Your Immune System in the New Era of Covid
Covid-19 has been on our radar for about a year and a half now, and some new terms have entered the conversation. “Variants”, “long-haul”, “long-covid”, and “jabs” have all been added to our vocabularies.
